2018 marked a significant year of growth for our company. With a steadily expanding team and an ever-increasing workload, we knew it was time to upgrade our workspace to accommodate our evolving needs. That’s when the idea for our new office space was born. Located at our headquarters in Rotherwas, this project became much more than just a construction site—it was a journey that we documented and shared with our community every step of the way.

From the initial framework in January to the final touches in April, we transformed a bare mezzanine into a fully functional, modern office that now serves as the heart of our operations. Throughout this process, we kept our followers updated through a series of Facebook posts, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the build as it unfolded in real-time.

In this post, we’re excited to share the entire journey—from concept to completion—with you. Join us as we walk through each stage of the build, reflecting on the milestones, challenges, and progress that shaped the creation of our new workspace.

Framing the Vision: January 2018

In early 2018, we embarked on an exciting new chapter by expanding our headquarters in Rotherwas with the construction of brand-new office spaces. As the company continued to grow, the need for a modern and efficient workspace became clear. The first stage of this transformation began with the basic framework, laying the foundation for what would soon become a dynamic working environment for the team.

The initial construction phase focused on building a sturdy wooden framework on the mezzanine level. This skeleton structure marked the start of the project, providing a clear vision of how the space would be divided and utilised. Though it was still bare, the excitement of creating a custom office tailored to the needs of Marble & Granite Designs could be felt throughout the team.

Midway through January, we shared the first official update of the project with our Facebook followers:

In this post, we shared the excitement of seeing the framework take shape, providing a sneak peek into what was to come. The post highlighted the teamwork and planning behind the project and the anticipation for what would follow in the coming months.

As the month drew to a close, the project’s momentum picked up speed, setting the stage for the next phase of construction.

Building Momentum: February 2018

As February rolled in, we made significant progress on the new office space. With the framework in place, we moved forward by adding key structural elements, such as the staircase that would connect the mezzanine office to the ground floor. This was a major milestone, as it started to bring functionality to the space, allowing us to envision how our team would move around and use the area efficiently.

During this phase, we also expanded the framework, adding more details to the walls and preparing for the next steps like insulation and drywalling. Walking through the site at this stage, we could already feel the space transforming from a bare frame to something tangible and real. The pace of the build was picking up, and with each day, the office was coming closer to completion.

In the last week of February, we shared another update with our followers on Facebook:

In this post, we highlighted the installation of the staircase and the steady progress being made on the build. It was great to see how far we had come in just a few weeks, and we were excited to keep sharing these updates with our community.

By the end of February, we were ready to move on to the next phase, which involved the crucial work of fitting the insulation and drywall, setting the stage for the interior finishing.

Fitting and Finishing: March 2018

With the framework complete and the structural elements in place, March was all about transforming the space from a construction site into an office. One of the most critical phases of the project took place this month: insulation, drywalling, and plastering. These steps were essential in preparing the office for its final look and feel. The walls started to take shape, and the open skeleton of the space began to transform into defined rooms and offices.

As we watched the insulation go in and the drywall get installed, it was clear that we were getting closer to the finish line. The space was starting to feel more enclosed and comfortable. The walls were plastered and smoothed, giving everything a clean, polished look. Walking through the space during this stage felt like stepping into a blank canvas, ready to be filled with the finishing touches that would make it a fully functional and comfortable office for our team.

Midway through March, we shared another update on Facebook to keep everyone in the loop:

In this post, we discussed the progress of the drywalling and the excitement of seeing the office take shape. It was a major step forward, and with the plastering nearly complete, we could already start planning for the final stage of the build.

By the end of March, the office was looking more refined, and we were almost ready to move forward with the finishing touches, including the installation of furniture and lighting.

The Final Touches: April 2018

By April, the finish line was finally in sight. With the walls plastered and the framework complete, the focus shifted to the final touches that would bring the office to life. We started installing the flooring, lighting, and furniture, transforming the space into a fully functional office. Watching the blank canvas evolve into a vibrant workspace was incredibly rewarding for the entire team.

The layout came together perfectly, with plenty of natural light flooding in from the windows, creating a bright and comfortable atmosphere for the team. We took care in selecting furniture that would suit both the style and functionality of the office, ensuring that the space was not only visually appealing but also practical for day-to-day operations. As we added the final touches, such as office desks, chairs, and storage units, the new office became a reflection of the growth and progress we’ve experienced as a company.

In April, we proudly shared the final update of the project on Facebook:

In this post, we celebrated the completion of the new office and shared a glimpse of the finished space with our followers. After months of planning, hard work, and progress, it was exciting to show the transformation from an empty mezzanine to a bustling, modern office.

With the project completed, the new office space improved our day-to-day operations and set us up for future growth. It was a major milestone for Marble & Granite Designs Ltd, and we’re thrilled to be working in this incredible new environment.
